What is the Mission Development Office?


The Congregational Leadership Team of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd established a Research and Development Committee in May, 2004 whose mission statement is:

“In keeping with the Millennium goals and our congregational direction statement 2003, we wish to:

  • play our part in the global partnership for development aimed at the eradication of poverty and hunger.
  • promote strong justice initiatives, giving priority to the problems of economic injustice and the exploitation of women and children.”

The Mission Development Office (MDO) and the Funding Team (FT) began operation in 2007 to obtain and manage funding for the support of ministry and educational needs of the Good Shepherd missions in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The MDO is the central coordination office established at the Generalate in Rome, whose Director is responsible for planning, developing and supervising the activities carried out by the members of the Funding Team. The members of the Funding Team are appointed by the Congregational Leadership Team.
