Put an end to Violence against Children: Communities of Faith in Action

Arigatou International and the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) have extended the invitation to the Congregation of the Good Shepherd in Bolivia to participate in the Fifth Forum of the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) Which will take place in Panama City on May 9, 10 and 11, 2017. More than four hundred (400) religious leaders and members of faith communities from around the world will gather in Panama for three days to discuss The theme  "Eliminating violence against children: Communities of faith in action".

Participants will discuss the following three sub-themes that the Organizing Committee of the 5th GNRC Forum, chaired by Archbishop Sidney Fones Infante, former Deputy Secretary General of the Latin American Episcopal Council (CELAM), has prepared.

The subtopics are:

a. to protect children from violent extremism, gangs and organized crime: The role of faith communities;

b. cultivate spirituality and eliminate violence in the upbringing of children: The role of faith communities;

c. Eliminate sexual exploitation and abuse of children: The role of faith communities.

Every five years, Arigatou International organizes the GNRC Forum, where leaders, members and children from faith communities around the world come together to discuss, analyzed, and jointly develop action plans to address the challenges facing children around of the world

It is expected that the conclusions of the Fifth GNRC Forum guide the work of the global network and its members in 42 countries, as well as their partners and religious leaders and faith communities around the world, addressing the challenges of violence against children by prioritizing areas such as children's rights, education and poverty. The role of faith communities in addressing these challenges - especially through interreligious cooperation - will be the central axis and focus of the forum.

This task will be a challenge and an opportunity for the Congregation of the Good Shepherd.
