Province Leader of Portugal
During the Province Chapter, which was held in Fatima, Portugal, from the 2-9 October 2017, Sr. Maria de Fátima Coelho Pires, was elected Province Leader of Portugal.
Fatima was born on 8th August 1958 in Azores – Portugal, and entered the Congregation in Ermesinde, Portugal on 31st July 1984. She made her perpetual profession on 29th September 1992 in Azores, Portugal.
Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Education from the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome, Italy; a Degree in Psychology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italy; a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management from Universidade Católica do Porto – Portugal; and three years of social work study in Lisbon.
Some of Fatima’s ministry experiences are: pastoral vocation ministry, psychological accompaniment, technical director of Home for Children and Youth, and director of an insertion community for women.
Over the years Fatima gained experience as a local community leader and was a member of the Province Council at two different times. She has also participated in various international meetings.
